Welcome to the Penn Barbell Club
.The Penn Barbell Club strives to create a community for students and the UPenn community interested in any lifting and barbell sports and inspires others in our strength journey. We hold weekly group lifts that all members are encouraged to join.
Penn Barbell Club was founded in 2018 by a group of Penn students. The club became inactive as board members graduated, and was reestablished in Spring 2020 by Odette Yang. The club is inclusive for all barbell sports, including by not limited to: powerlifting, bodybuilding, Olympic Weightlifting, CrossFit, and general fitness.
The club's main goal is to encourage strength training and cater to students, staff and faculty interested in the sport. The club sends members to local, national and international powerlifting competitions representing the University of Pennsylvania. Since the club’s initiation in 2018, the club has grown in size to nearly 250 members with numerous members actively competing in powerlifting meets and bodybuilding shows at local, national and international levels. The club has been very successful in getting people interested in strength training and elevating its field to the highest level. For all inquiries, email [email protected].
